DWPD/TBW CALCULATOR

DWPD Calculator
SSDs are subject to wear during data writing, which significantly affects their lifetime, which is one of the basic factors in business and server applications. There are several parameters that determine the lifetime of disks. Differences in their calculation can make it difficult to choose the right drive. Therefore, especially for you, we have prepared a calculator/converter that allows you to compare the lifetime of disks, even when it is given in different parameters. Just fill in the fields in the table below and press the calculate button!

Explanation Time Period - The average host-side write speed (MB / s) required to reach the value. DWPD or DW/D - (Drive Writes Per Day) is the number of times the disk capacity can be written each day until the warranty is void. GB/day - number of gigabytes that can be written during the day. TBW - (Total Bytes Written) means the amount of data that can be written on the SSD until the warranty expires, the value is given in terabytes. PBW - (Petabytes Written) means the amount of data that can be written on the SSD until the warranty expires, the value is given in petabytes. For the disk capacity in GB given as S and the warranty period in years as T the conversion between the different disk endurance specifications can be calculated as follows:
  • DWPD = GB/day ÷ S
  • DWPD = (TBW(TB) × 1000) ÷ (S × T × 365)
  • GB/day = DWPD × S
  • GB/day = (TBW(TB) × 1000) ÷ (T × 365)
  • TBW(TB) = (DWPD × S × T × 365) ÷ 1000
  • TBW(TB) = (GB/dzień × T × 365) ÷ 1000
  • PBW = TBW(PB) = TBW(TB) ÷ 1000
